NEW YORK — AFTER weeks of testimony and deliberation, Sean “Diddy” Combs has been found not guilty on three of the five charges he faced. The jury handed down its verdict this morning (Jul. 2).
Combs was acquitted of one count of racketeering conspiracy and two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion. However, he was found guilty on two counts of transportation for the purpose of engaging in prostitution.
The music mogul had faced the possibility of life in prison if convicted on all counts.
The seven-week trial concluded last week, and the jury began deliberating shortly afterward. A partial verdict was reached yesterday, with decisions on the following charges:
Count 2: Sex Trafficking by Force, Fraud, or Coercion – Not Guilty
Count 3: Transportation to Engage in Prostitution – Guilty
Count 4: Sex Trafficking by Force, Fraud, or Coercion – Not Guilty
Count 5: Transportation to Engage in Prostitution – Guilty
The jury initially could not reach a unanimous decision on Count 1: Racketeering Conspiracy, but after reconvening this morning, they deliberated for one hour before returning a not guilty verdict.
Defense attorneys are expected to speak to the media later today, as they push for Combs’ release ahead of sentencing.
