BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — POLICE on Monday (Jul. 14) released details about a recent shooting incident in the Bird Rock area that resulted in no injuries.
According to a statement from the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, the incident occurred on the evening of July 11 near the Customs and Excise Department.
Preliminary investigations indicate that multiple assailants traveling in a black BMW X5 opened fire on a Honda CR-V while both vehicles were headed toward Bird Rock, with the Honda in front.
Police reported that after firing several rounds, the assailants fled the area. Officers later encountered the suspected vehicle near Potato Bay in Frigate Bay and pursued it.
During the chase, officers discharged their firearms in an attempt to immobilize the vehicle, but the effort was unsuccessful.
Five individuals were inside the Honda CR-V at the time of the incident, but none sustained injuries.
One person has been taken into custody as the investigation continues.
