BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — SELWYN “Judge” Pringle, the man previously charged in connection with the disappearance of 16-year-old Janelika Romney, is now facing a murder charge following the results of a post-mortem examination.
Police confirmed late Thursday afternoon (Jul. 17) that Pringle has been formally charged with the murder of Romney, whose body was discovered after she went missing last month.
The autopsy, conducted the same day by Forensic Pathologist Dr. Shanedelle Norford-Harry with support from resident pathologists Dr. Adrian Nuñez Quintana and Dr. Nordica Phillip, revealed that Romney died from multiple stab wounds.
Romney, a resident of New Guinea, St. Kitts, was reported missing on June 16, 2025. Ten days later, on June 26, Pringle was charged with Kidnapping and False Imprisonment in connection with her disappearance.
The murder charge marks a grim development in a case that has gripped the nation and prompted calls for greater protection of young people.
Police say investigations are ongoing.
