BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — POLICE have identified the officer injured in Wednesday evening’s shooting in Pond’s Pasture as 24-year-old Talbert Warner of Verchilds Village.
In a statement issued Thursday (July 31), the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force confirmed that the incident, classified as attempted murder, occurred on the evening of July 30, 2025, between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in the vicinity of Ritchen’s Food Business.
According to investigators from the Violent Crime Unit (VCU), Warner was seated under a tent among other patrons with his back facing the main road when gunshots rang out. He was struck once in the back, with the bullet entering his left shoulder.
Fellow officers on the scene quickly transported him to the Joseph N. France General Hospital, where he was examined and treated. Warner remains in stable condition in the Surgical Ward.
No other injuries were reported. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
