BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A young man from Mansion Village is currently nursing a bullet wound at the JNF Hospital after he was shot last night (Jan 4) by an unknown assailant.
Information reaching this media house states that Delanis Lawrence was shot in the rear pelvic area of his body while riding his motorcycle along a back road in Mansion Housing Project.
When contacted, the Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Vaughan Henderson, said Lawrence was shot at about 8:15 p.m. and was taken to the hospital, where he was admitted and is in stable condition.
He said no one was held accountable for the incident but investigations are ongoing.
SKNVibes however learnt that at the time of the shooting, the 21-year-old Lawrence was returning to his home after taking a friend to their residence. The friend also lives in Mansion Village. He was driven to the hospital by another friend.
This has been the fourth shooting incident in as many days since the commencement of the New Year.
Shortly after 6:00 on New Year’s Day, 26-year-old Keithon Stanley of Cole Hill was killed execution-style within a building in Craddock Road, Charlestown, Nevis. Some 15 hours later, another Nevisian, Bevon Richards of Cotton Ground, was shot in the neck and was warded in stable condition at the Alexandra Hospital.
And shortly after mid-night on Jan. 3, Kimbal Bennett of Willet’s Project, St. Paul’s Village was shot in his upper right arm during a fight at the junction of Fort and Central Streets between two groups of young men from St. Paul’s Village and Cayon Village.
Investigations into these incidents are also ongoing.
