BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE have confirmed the identity of a decomposing body discovered at the old Bridge Club property in Fortlands, Basseterre, as 63-year-old Herbert Carty.
According to a statement issued yesterday (Aug. 5), the body was found on August 3 in an advanced state of decomposition.
The cause of death has not yet been determined, and police noted that an autopsy will be conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding Carty’s passing.
Authorities said no public announcement was made at the time of discovery in order to first locate and inform the deceased’s next of kin, in line with standard protocol. That process was completed on Tuesday, prompting the official release of the information.
