CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – THE Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is investigating two separate robberies that occurred Friday night (Aug. 8), leaving the victims shaken.
According to police, the first incident took place between 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., when Odalis Lynch Navarro of Stoney Grove was returning home in the vicinity of Charlestown Secondary School.
A short male suspect reportedly emerged from beside an outdoor galvanized shed and robbed her at knifepoint, making off with her gold necklace and hoop earrings.
While Navarro screamed for help, police said the attacker struck her in the mouth and cut her left hand before fleeing down the road to a waiting vehicle.
The second robbery happened between 9:00p.m. and 9:30p.m. when Khalia Warner of Cotton Ground Housing Project was walking home from work at Paradise Beach.
She told police she was robbed at knifepoint along the island’s main road near Colquhoun’s Estate. The assailant stole her black handbag containing personal items.
Officers searched the area but were unable to recover the stolen property. Shortly after, an unknown male matching the suspect’s description was spotted walking from the Colquhoun’s Estate area toward Cotton Ground. He was taken into custody and is assisting police with the investigation.
