BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THREE individuals were yesterday afternoon (Jan. 5) treated for minor injuries at the JNF Hospital and discharged following a two-vehicle and bicycle collision at the junction of Wellington Road, Leonard Dickenson Street and Edward Lane.

According to Head of the Traffic Department, Inspector Cromwell Henry, the accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. and had involved motorcar P9096 driven by Hertley Weekes of Wades Garden, motor pickup P2887 driven by Clement Forbes of Cayon, and a bicycle ridden by Dyllun Greene of Taylors.

Henry informed that investigations revealed that while the motor pickup was travelling south along Wellington Road, P9096 emerged from Leonard Dickenson Street and collided with it, knocking Greene off his cycle in the process.

Greene was at the time approaching Wellington Road from Edward Lane. Henry said that this is the sixth vehicular accident for the year that occurred in Basseterre.

When SKNVibes arrived on the scene, the pickup was seen upside down on Wellington Road while P9096 was on its wheels facing the direction from which it came. Both vehicles were extensively damaged.

Curious onlookers watched as a wrecker removed the vehicles, which had caused a delay in the smooth flow of traffic for almost an hour.
