SPBS Celebrates Distinguished Honorees at 2025 Annual Awards Banquet

By: SPBS, Press Release

August 22nd, 2025 -- The Sandy Point Benevolent Society (SPBS) proudly announces its 2025, five outstanding individuals who will be honored for their exceptional achievements, leadership, and service. This year’s honorees reflect the very best of our values - resilience, generosity, innovation, and cultural pride.

In extending the welcome, SPBS President Dr. Stewart Williams shared: “Each year, we come together not only to celebrate the accomplishments of our honorees but to remind ourselves of the power of giving back. These remarkable individuals show us that when we invest in others, we strengthen our community and create opportunities for generations to come. We invite everyone to join us in honoring their legacies and supporting our mission: Give so that others can move forward.”

    Dr. Almesha L. Campbell

Dr. Almesha L. Campbell, Ph.D., RTTP, of Newton Ground Village, St. Kitts, serves as Associate Vice President for Research and Economic Development at Jackson State University (JSU), where she manages a $120M research portfolio. A national leader in innovation and technology transfer, she co-founded the JSU Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the JSU Innovation Fellows Program, while securing significant federal funding in areas such as AI, cybersecurity, and workforce development. She has served as Chair of the AUTM Board of Directors (2023–2024), sits on the ARIS Advisory Board, and is an honorary member of the National Academy of Inventors. A proud alumna of Sandy Point High School, Dr. Campbell continues to support SPBS and previously delivered the 2022 Awards Banquet keynote address.

Born in Sandy Point, Mrs. Gracemae Richardson-Carty, of Sandy Point, St. Kitts but who now resides in Anguilla, has become a pillar of entrepreneurship and service in Anguilla. A graduate of the University of the Virgin Islands with highest honors in Accounting and Finance, she co-founded Paramount Pharmacy, transforming it into a trusted healthcare provider. Alongside her husband, Bernard Carty, she expanded into real estate, using her success to empower the less fortunate.
