BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE have arrested and charged Dequan Dore of East Street, Newtown, with the offence of Accessory After the Fact to Murder.
The charge stems from the August 1, 2024, murders of 30-year-old Devon Parris and 9-year-old J’Marni Smithen, both of Craddock Road, Nevis. The two were shot and killed in Newton Ground, St. Kitts.
Autopsy reports confirmed that both victims died from gunshot wounds to the head. The brutal killing, particularly of the 9-year-old, sparked widespread outrage across the Federation.
On December 23, Jesus Valdez was also charged in connection with the incident.
In a media statement issued today (August 22), police said Dore’s offence was committed on August 2, 2024, in Newton Ground. The charge was formally filed today at the Basseterre Police Station.
