BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — POLICE are investigating a bold daylight robbery at another Chinese supermarket in the Federation. This latest incident took place on Sunday, August 31st, at the Hong Yun Supermarket on Newtown Bay Road.
According to a police media statement, an armed, masked man entered the supermarket between 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. and demanded money from the owner. The individual escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, and no injuries were reported.
This is the latest in a series of robberies targeting supermarkets, particularly those owned by Chinese nationals.
The Federation has also seen a number of burglaries, with the most recent being a home invasion involving Winston "Monster" Phipps.
That incident occurred on August 27, 2025, between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. in Saddlers. Police reported that Phipps was woken up by someone calling his name through a window. He then saw a hand holding a firearm extended through the window.
A second armed, masked man later forced his way through a door, and both assailants entered his home, demanding money. The men reportedly assaulted him before stealing cash and fleeing the scene.
