Caribbean Airlines suspends Venezuela flights for September

By: Jermine Abel, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – CARIBBEAN Airlines has announced the immediate suspension of all flights to Venezuela for the remainder of September.

The carrier did not provide a reason for the decision, which primarily affects its Port of Spain–Caracas service.

The suspension comes amid heightened regional tension following a recent U.S. airstrike on a Venezuelan vessel that reportedly left 11 people dead. U.S. President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the strike, claiming the vessel was transporting drugs bound for the United States.

Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has publicly backed Washington’s hardline approach, praising the strike. “The pain and suffering the cartels have inflicted on our nation is immense. I have no sympathy for traffickers; the U.S. military should kill them all violently,” she was quoted as saying by CNN.

Venezuela has long been identified as a major transshipment hub for narcotics moving through the Caribbean into the U.S. The Trump administration has intensified its pressure on President Nicolás Maduro, even placing a US$50 million bounty on his arrest.

Caribbean Airlines said the suspension affects flights BW 300 and BW 301 on September 6, 13, 20, and 27. The airline noted it is contacting affected customers and will allow rebooking without fees, provided tickets remain in the same cabin class.

For more information, customers are encouraged to reach out to the airline’s reservations or customer service centers.
