Police seize more illegal firearms in Saddlers amid ongoing crackdown

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — THE Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force continues to grapple with the troubling influx of illegal firearms into the Federation, even as officers intensify their crackdown.

The latest seizure came on September 9 in Saddlers, where officers recovered multiple weapons and ammunition during a yard search.

According to police, one bag contained a Mac-10 with a magazine and five rounds of .380mm ammunition was found. A  bag held another firearm, two magazines—one loaded with six rounds of .45mm ammunition, the other empty—as well as 15 additional rounds of .45mm ammunition.

The discovery follows several recent incidents where firearms were brandished, raising concerns about the steady flow of weapons despite increased enforcement.

Officials have repeatedly stressed that neither the Federation nor the wider Caribbean produces guns or ammunition, fueling questions about how these weapons continue to enter the region undetected from the United States.

In response, the government has stiffened penalties for illegal possession. In recent weeks, several individuals have been charged in connection with firearms and ammunition offences.
