Update: Police provide update on two recent shooting incidents

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOUR days after two separate shootings left two men injured, police have released an update identifying the individuals who were treated.

In a statement issued today (Sept. 22), the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) confirmed the victims as Keszron Duporte of Halfway Tree and Leon “Copper” Didder of Nisbett Settlement, Newcastle.

According to police, the first incident occurred in Halfway Tree, St. Kitts, between 10:00 and 10:30 a.m. on September 18. Preliminary investigations revealed that Duporte was driving toward Basseterre when a black jeep pulled alongside his vehicle and the driver opened fire. He was struck in the right forearm, treated at the Joseph N. France General Hospital, and later discharged.

The second shooting happened earlier that same morning on Nevis, between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. Investigations suggest that Didder was confronted by two masked and armed men while approaching his vehicle in Newcastle. The suspects fired several shots, striking him in the left upper arm and forearm. He managed to escape and was transported by private vehicle to the Alexandra Hospital, where he was treated and discharged.

Police say investigations into both incidents remain ongoing.
