The St. Kitts and Nevis Senior Men's National Team cruised to wins against France Saint-Martin in two international friendly matches at the Newtown Sports Complex on the weekend.

In Game 1, the Sugar Boys defeated the French Saint-Martin team 5-0 with goals from Javern Matthew, Mervin Lewis, Dequan Hamilton and Nequan Brown. On Saturday, October 4th, in Game 2, the Sugar Boys won 2-1 with the winning goal coming from Dionte Eddy, a 15-year-old sensation from Sandy Point Football Club.

Following Game 1, coach Austin Deacon-Huggins praised the positives in his team's performance while also pointing out areas needing improvement.

“I like in particular the way in which we attacked this evening. Not many times I saw our team in that kind of attacking mood. We were able to score five goals in the first half and also we made some other easier chances but nevertheless we were able to score five goals. It’s been a long time we haven't scored five goals,” Huggins said.

“We had the attacking players there moving off the ball freely, dribbling and taking on defenders, combination passes and players just running in and out the back of the defense. We were looking real exciting tonight,” he added.

For game 2, the coach for that night was Alexis Morris. He spoke about the performance of the team after the match. “We had some different guys coming out here tonight. A much younger core. If you could do the assessment, the average age is about 22-23. And so we just wanted to give them an opportunity to play,” he said. “Like I told my guys, football is a tale of two games.
And yes, like you rightfully summed it up, there were definitely two games this evening….we are grateful for the victory. But there's a lot of work still to be done.

These matches were organised to help the Sugar Boyz gear up for an upcoming friendly international tournament being organised by Concacaf, which is due to begin next month.
