Police seize ammunition during joint search operation

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — THE Police Force continues to make headway in its efforts to rid the streets of illegal firearms and ammunition, following another successful joint operation earlier this week.

In a statement, the police reported that during a coordinated operation on October 12, officers recovered several rounds of ammunition.

The early-morning search was carried out by members of the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU), Special Services Unit (SSU), and the Joint Security Operations Tactical Team (JSOTT) on two vacant lots. The operation targeted controlled drugs, arms, and ammunition.

According to police, six rounds of 5.56mm ammunition were discovered and later processed by the Crime Scene Department.

Authorities described the find as a positive outcome in their ongoing fight against crime and violence across the Federation.

Over the past six months, the Police Force has seized several illegal firearms and rounds of ammunition, amid a year marked by multiple homicides.

Police confirmed that no arrests have been made in connection with this latest discovery.
