ROSEAU, Dominica -- THE stage is set and excitement is in the air as the highly anticipated World Creole Music Festival kicks off this evening, marking 25 years as one of the Caribbean’s premier cultural and entertainment events.
Organizers are celebrating the Festival’s silver jubilee with a call for music lovers from around the world to descend on Dominica to enjoy the unique blend of Creole, soca, reggae, and bouyon rhythms that only the Nature Island can deliver.
Since its inception in 1997, the Festival has carved out a distinctive identity, showcasing Dominica’s musical heritage while preserving its “raw flavour” rooted in history and culture.
“Our silver jubilee theme, Global Echoes of the Nature Island: Celebrating 25 Years of Creole Music, Magic, and Memories, reminds us that this event does more than entertain — it connects,” organizers said Friday at a press conference in Roseau. “Every drumbeat, every note, every flag in the air echoes Dominica’s spirit far beyond our shores.”
The Festival has built a reputation for featuring top-tier talent, and this year is no exception.
“Behind the scenes, many individuals — from the Discover Dominica Authority teams to production crews, vendors, police, and volunteers — have worked tirelessly to ensure that tonight’s opening is safe, smooth, and spectacular,” organizers added.
Beyond the entertainment, the Festival has long served as a crucial boost to Dominica’s economy during the typically slow independence season. Local businesses, artisans, and cultural performers benefit from increased activity and international attention.
