ROSEAU, Dominica – NIGHT two of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF) delivered an unforgettable musical spectacle, showcasing the region’s top performers in a high-energy celebration of Caribbean culture.
From bouyon to soca, reggae to dancehall, the festival grounds at Windsor Park Cricket Stadium were alive with rhythm and excitement as thousands of patrons danced well into the early hours of Sunday morning.
The self-proclaimed King of Bouyon, Asa Bantan, set the tone for the night with a dramatic entrance that sent the crowd into a frenzy. Fans braved the cool night dew and the effects of a long evening of celebration as he delivered hit after hit, reaffirming his status as one of Dominica’s most beloved performers.
Despite a brief delay in the lineup, the momentum never faltered. Organizers carefully curated the evening’s performances, presenting back-to-back sets from some of the Caribbean’s most acclaimed entertainers.
As midnight faded into dawn, Kes the Band took the stage, reviving the crowd with a dynamic blend of classic anthems and fan favorites that spanned generations. The energy soared as celebration filled the air.
Spice followed with her trademark flair—bringing her bold, unapologetic dancehall style that had female fans especially roaring with approval. Her performance was both provocative and empowering, adding a fiery element to the night’s entertainment.
The much-anticipated return of Vybz Kartel’s music to the Dominica stage drew massive applause. Though not physically present, the tribute and his musical influence electrified the audience, who sang along passionately, celebrating the legacy of the dancehall icon.
Homegrown Creole and bouyon acts also held their own, ensuring local talent remained firmly in the spotlight and reminding festival-goers why WCMF is known as the Caribbean’s mecca of cultural expression.
As has become tradition, the show ended at sunrise, with revelers still dancing as the first light broke over the stadium.
With two nights down, anticipation is building for night three, which promises to deliver even higher energy as festival-goers prepare to dance and party their way into the new week.
