CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – FAMILY members of a female Brown Hill resident are giving thanks and praise to God for the safety and preservation of her life after she was involved in a traffic accident yesterday (Jan. 6) on the island main road in Nevis.
Sasha Henry of Brown Hill, Nevis survived an accident unscathed after the vehicle she was driving ran off the road and ended up in a ghaut.
According to Head of the Nevis Traffic Department Sergeant James Hazel, at about 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 6), while driving along the island main road heading towards Charlestown, Henry overtook a vehicle and found that hers was swerving.
He noted that Henry explained that she lost control and ended up in a ghaut in Prospect as she was approaching the vicinity of the Power Station, which resulted in extensive damage to the vehicle.
The Traffic Head noted that this takes the total accidents to have occurred on Nevis for the New Year to four. He also noted that there was a decrease in traffic accidents in 2009 – 257 with no fatality – compared to 261 in the previous year with three fatalities.
Sergeant Hazel is appealing to motorist to drive with caution and to adhere to all traffic laws in order to enhance their safety as well as those of pedestrians and other road users.
Meanwhile, officers at the Cotton Ground Police Station are investigating the report of a vehicle that was stolen on Tuesday (Jan. 5) and recovered yesterday at Long Point.
This media house learnt that the vehicle, PA 8479, is by owned by Lesroy Taylor of Westbury, who on Tuesday night had parked it outside his home but awoke the following morning and found it missing.
