The Ministry of Human Resources in the Nevis Island Administration conducted a series of scholarship and financial assistance information sessions with the fifth and sixth formers of the Gingerland Secondary, Charlestown Secondary, and Nevis International Secondary schools as well as the Nevis Sixth Form College.
The meetings were held 12th, 19th and 24th of November and 2nd December 2025, to further support the awareness of prospective students and to assist in their preparations to successfully undergo tertiary education.
The sessions were led by the Ministry of Human Resources Training Manager, Mrs. Shanola Murrey-Gill and Training Officer, Ms. Hardai Beephat who both encouraged the students to take their education seriously and begin early preparations for university. The duo shared general information on scholarships and financial aid, whilst expounding on the application processes and the importance of fulfilling application requirements in order to be granted funding. The HR Officers also shared their personal experiences with students about their financial difficulties whilst attending university and implored the students to seek financial aid as it is a great opportunity.
The Ministry is grateful for the assistance of Ms. Zahnela Claxton, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education et. al.; the Headteachers – Ms. Joy Napier, Mrs. Nicola Parris, Mr. Kayno David, and Deputy Principal, Mrs. Kerylyn David. Special thanks to Counsellor, Mrs. Lornette Morton and those who provided general assistance and certainly, the students whose reception to the information they received was astounding.
We are also grateful to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Human Resources, Mr. Kevin Barrett, for his tremendous support and encouragement; and to the Honourable Premier Mark Brantley with ministerial responsibility for the Ministry of Human Resources, for his continued efforts in supporting the Ministry in sharing scholarship and financial assistance opportunities.
