Parson’s Ground resident charged after social media video threat sparks police investigation

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — ANAMBA Wattley of Parson's Ground has been charged with several offences following a police investigation into a video circulated on social media that contained threats of violence.

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) said investigations were conducted between December 17 and 20, 2025, leading to Wattley’s charges.

According to police, Wattley was first arrested on December 18, 2025, at Rosemary Lane, Basseterre, and charged with Unlawful Communication. On the same day, officers executed a search warrant at his residence in Parson’s Ground, during which items of evidential value were seized.

Following the search, Wattley was also charged with Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Supply.

On December 20, 2025, Wattley was further charged with Incitement, in relation to the video posted on December 17, 2025, which prompted widespread public concern and police attention.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the RSCNPF announced that an individual had been charged with public incitement after posting a video that threatened violence against members of the public. Police said the person responsible for recording and publishing the video was quickly identified through “prompt and targeted investigative work.”

The Police Force has since reassured residents and visitors that St. Kitts and Nevis remains a safe destination, emphasizing that isolated acts of unlawful or irresponsible behaviour will not be allowed to disrupt public order, particularly during the Christmas and Carnival season.

Police  also emphasized that threats of violence—whether made through actions, speech, or online platforms—are treated seriously.

“When language moves beyond expression to encourage or instruct criminal conduct, it becomes a matter for law enforcement. The law does not require harm to occur before action is taken. Social media is not a shield from accountability, and those who attempt to incite or promote violence will face swift legal consequences,” the statement said.

The RSCNPF said the matter highlights its readiness and investigative capability, adding that officers continue to work closely with community partners, event organisers, and other stakeholders to ensure a safe and enjoyable season for all.
