BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – WITH less than a week to recover from news of the first homicide of the year, the Federation was forced to deal with another last night (Jan. 7).

Dead is 23-year-old Bath Village, Nevis resident Kimoy ‘Pudding’ Powell, who was originally from Irishtown, St. Kitts.

Interim Divisional Commander for District ‘C’ (Nevis), Inspector Hilroy Bandy confirmed that the incident took place and explained that police investigations had revealed Powell was at Crosses Alley, Charlestown when he was shot multiple times about the body.

The Inspector further explained that sometime after 9:00 p.m. police responded to a report of a shooting. When officers arrived in the area, they met a medical emergency team at the scene attending to Powell’s wounds.

He was then transported to the Alexandra Hospital via ambulance where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Interim Divisional Commander noted that presently they do not know of any suspects and no one has been taken into custody relative to the incident.  Investigations, he informed, are ongoing.

Persons who may have information pertinent to this case are asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at the Charlestown Police Station at 469-5391. The public is reminded that all information received with be treated with the strictest confidence.

Powell’s slaying has pushed the number of killings in the Federation to two thus far for the year, with the first being that of Keithon Stanley of Cole Hill, who was shot on January 1 in Nevis.

Last year, St. Kitts-Nevis recorded an unprecedented 27 murders, most of which were committed with the aid of firearms.
