WASHINGTON, DC — MEDIA reports and circulating videos out of Caracas, Venezuela indicate that a series of explosions rocked the capital in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The blasts reportedly occurred during the pre-dawn hours, causing widespread concern among residents.
Journalists on the ground in Caracas are reporting that at least seven explosions were heard, resulting in power outages across several areas.
The Venezuelan government has accused the United States of carrying out the attack with a low-flying aircraft. President Nicolás Maduro has called “on all social and political forces in the country to activate mobilization plans and repudiate this imperialist attack.”
Plumes of smoke were seen lighting up the skies across several regions, as explosions were also reported in areas outside the capital, including Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira.
The incident follows a recent strike on a port facility, which Venezuelan officials have also attributed to the United States.
