BASSETERRE, St. Kitts -- POLICE on Saturday provided an update on the stabbing incident that marred the Last Lap Parade, bringing the event to a premature end.
In a statement, police said officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the vicinity of Independence Square, Basseterre, St. Kitts, between 8:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found 18-year-old Kaden Hanley of Shadwell Estate, St. Kitts, suffering from a stab wound to the chest. He was transported to the Joseph N. France (JNF) General Hospital by members of the Special Services Unit (SSU).
Police said Hanley later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at approximately 9:00 p.m.
No arrests have been announced in connection with the incident.
