By: Sports Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts — PRESPDENT of Cricket West Indies (CWI), Kishore Shallow, has described the past year as one of significant challenge for regional cricket, marked by loss, financial strain and on-field struggles, while reaffirming confidence in a stronger future for the game.

In a reflective statement, Shallow acknowledged that the year tested the organisation and the wider Caribbean community, reminding of the game’s place within Caribbean society.

Despite challenges, Shallow said the spirit of West Indies cricket endured, driven by the region’s enduring passion for the sport and what it represents.

On the field, the CWI president admitted that performances have not consistently met historical standards or public expectations. He stressed that improvement is essential and said the organisation remains committed to strengthening its structures, supporting players and rebuilding a culture focused on accountability, resilience and winning.

Off the field, Shallow pointed to ongoing financial pressures, describing the past year as a difficult period for the organisation. He said while those challenges persist, CWI is focused on prudent and responsible management to ensure the long-term sustainability of the sport.

Shallow also addressed relations with regional leaders, confirming that ties with CARICOM governments remain strong despite occasional differences in perspective. He said dialogue, collaboration and mutual respect continue to guide those relationships, united by a shared belief in the importance of West Indies cricket as a regional institution.

Emphasising the legacy of the sport, Shallow noted that West Indies cricket transcends any single era or individual, describing it as a shared inheritance that has the power to unite and inspire the Caribbean.
