St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee Celebrates the Transformative Contributions of Women in Sport

    Basseterre, St Kitts, February 19, 2026  - “When we give to women, the whole community benefits.” So says St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee (SKNOC) President, Dennis Knight. Mr. Knight was at the time addressing a group of thirty (30) female administrators, coaches, officials, volunteers, and athletes who had gathered at the Alphonso E. Bridgewater Olympic House at No. 18 Taylor’s Range, Basseterre, St Kitts to attend a workshop held as part of the SKNOC’s International Women’s Day Celebrations. 

     

    The Workshop was also addressed by the Governor General, Her Excellency Dame Marcella Liburd GCMG, JP,  who congratulated the women on the work that they have achieved but encouraged them to do even more. 

     

    Director of Sport, Mr Jeffrey Hazel, brought greetings on behalf of the Ministry of Sport and lauded the significant contributions that women make across the entire sporting landscape in St. Kitts and Nevis. 

     

    In his feature address President Knight said that “Investing in women’s leadership and participation in sport strengthens families, inspires young girls, and builds healthier, more resilient communities.” He reaffirmed the SKNOC’s commitment to empowering women and providing equitable opportunities across all levels of sport. He stated, “The St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee extends heartfelt appreciation to every woman who has contributed to the Olympic movement. Our nation is stronger because of you”. 

     

    The highlight of the gathering featured a workshop on Safeguarding and Antidoping in Sports. The participants were enthusiastic in their response to the programme and expressed gratitude for being able to participate. The event was organized and run by the SKNOC’s Women in Sport Commission, chaired by Mrs Jennifer Nero.
