The Nevis Disaster Management Department (NDMD) will join with regional counterparts in participating in the annual Caribe Wave Tsunami Exercise scheduled for Thursday, 19th March 2026, between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
This exercise is designed to test and strengthen the island’s preparedness and response mechanisms in the event of a tsunami. As part of the drill, pedestrians will evacuate low-lying areas identified as Tsunami Hazard Zones and proceed to designated Assembly Areas or Tsunami Safe Sites located at higher elevations.
The NDMD advises all motorists to exercise caution, drive with due care, and remain vigilant for pedestrians moving along the main tra?c routes as they make their way to safety.
The Department thanks the public, the Business Community, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services, the Emergency Medical Services, and volunteers for their cooperation and stresses that this exercise is essential to enhancing community resilience and saving lives.
