Long lines persist at airports across the United States

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – DESPITE efforts by the administration in Washington, D.C. to address the issue, long lines continue to plague airports across the United States, causing frustration for travelers and delays that have stretched for hours.

The situation stems largely from Congress’ failure to pass funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which has resulted in Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers going weeks without pay. As a result, some officers have reportedly resigned, while others have called in sick or sought temporary jobs to make up for lost income, contributing to staff shortages at airport security checkpoints.

SKNVibes News understands that several major airports across the United States are experiencing significant delays. From airports in California to major hubs in Miami and New York, travelers are now being advised to arrive at least three hours before their scheduled departures.

This advisory also applies to transit passengers who leave the airport and return the following day to catch connecting flights.

In an effort to ease the pressure, the Donald Trump administration has dispatched Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to airports. However, reports indicate that many of those agents are primarily providing security support rather than operating screening stations, as they are not trained to run TSA equipment or manage passenger screening lines.

The situation is unfolding against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict involving Iran, which has pushed fuel prices higher. The increase in fuel costs has, in turn, led to rising airline ticket prices, even as travel demand remains steady.

As of Wednesday morning, long lines were still being reported at airports across the country, with mounting frustration among travelers facing extended wait times and, in some cases, missing their flights.
