BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE Federation’s contingent at the 2026 CARIFTA Games will return home with at least one medal after Kymarni Newton delivered a strong performance to secure bronze in the Boys Under-17 800m final.
In a highly competitive race, Newton clocked 1:55.34 to finish third, setting a new personal best in the process. His time also establishes a new national record in the Under-17 category.
The event was won by Nahjah Wyatte of St. Maarten in 1:53.26, with Jamaica’s Markland Williams taking second place in 1:53.60.
Meanwhile, fellow Kittitian Najeeb Kelly finished fifth with a time of 1:59.74.
Attention now shifts to the 4x400m relays, where the Federation will be hoping to add to its medal tally.
