Message of Condolence Fatalities at Citadelle LaFerriere, Haiti

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) joins the Government and People of the Republic of Haiti in mourning the tragic death of an estimated 30 people, following the stampede at the historic Citadelle Laferrière, on Saturday 11 April 2026. 
 
CARICOM expresses heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and hopes for the speedy recovery of those injured. These sentiments were also directly conveyed by the Chair of CARICOM, the Honorable Dr. Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis in a call to His Excellency Alix Didier Fils-Aimé early on Sunday 12 April, after learning of the tragedy.
 
The Caribbean Community stands in solidarity with Haiti during this time of grief and loss.
