Government of St. Kitts and Nevis Announces Discounted VAT Rate Days (DVRD) for 2026

    Easter DVRD Set for April 17; Summer and Christmas Dates Confirmed

     

    Basseterre, Saint Kitts – April 10, 2026 – In a continued effort to stimulate economic activity and provide meaningful financial relief to citizens and residents, the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis today released the 2026 schedule for its Discounted Value Added Tax (VAT) Rate Days. Building on the success of previous initiatives, these designated shopping periods will offer substantial savings on qualifying purchases during key times of the year.

     

    The following dates have been approved for the reduced VAT rate:

     

    Easter: Friday, April 17, 2026Vehicles are EXCLUDED from the discounted rate.

     

    Summer (Back-to-School): Friday August 28 and Saturday August 29, 2026 – Vehicles are EXCLUDED from the discounted rate.

     

    Christmas: Friday December 11 and Saturday December 19, 2026Vehicles WILL BE INCLUDED in the discounted rate.

     

    These initiatives are designed to ease the financial burden on households, boost consumer spending, and support local retailers during critical seasonal periods. As persistent global inflation, geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions continue to challenge economies worldwide, the Discounted VAT Rate Days serve as a vital tool to enhance affordability for everyday essentials and holiday purchases, while keeping money circulating within the local economy.

     

    Retailers are reminded to update their point-of-sale systems in advance and to clearly communicate the reduced VAT rate to customers throughout the specified periods.
