Basseterre, Saint Kitts, June 11, 2026 (SKNIS): Acting Commander of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force (SKNDF), Major Kayode Sutton, has hailed the significance of the new digital combat uniforms for the Infantry, Coast Guard Units and Reserves, as another milestone in the modernisation of the military organisation.
The uniforms were officially launched on Wednesday (June 10, 2026). The public was introduced to the new uniforms during a route march. The march was also planned to commemorate the 59th Anniversary of the brave defence of Camp Springfield back in 1967.
“It’s a very important day for us,” Major Sutton indicated, noting that the uniforms were properly legislated and approved by policymakers. “We remain committed to the defence of Saint Kitts and Nevis and will continue working alongside our security partners to ensure the Federation remains safe and secure.”
The unarmed units led by Major Sutton began the march at the historic Warner Park, turning down Victoria Road, across Cayon Street, and down Church Street, stopping at Government Headquarters, where Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, shared brief remarks and inspected the troops.
Afterwards, the soldiers and sailors marched across Liverpool Row, up Fort Street and across Central Street. The route proceeded along Burdon Street, onto Cayon Street and up Springfield Road to Camp Springfield.
The Major added that additional steps to modernise the SKNDF will continue, with advanced training being a core principle.
