Charlestown, Nevis—June 22, 2026 — The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Nevis Disaster Management Department (NDMD) are closely monitoring the progress of Hurricane Barry, following information received from the St. Kitts and Nevis Meteorological Services.
As of 8:00 a.m., Hurricane Barry was located near Latitude 16.3° North and Longitude 45.5° West, approximately 940 nautical miles east of St. Kitts and Nevis, and was moving west-northwest at 18 mph.
Current projections indicate that the system could begin affecting St. Kitts and Nevis within the next two to three days. In response, NEMA and NDMD have initiated preparedness actions and are maintaining close coordination with the Meteorological Services and other key agencies.
A Pre-Strike Meeting has been scheduled for 1:00 p.m. today (Monday, 22nd) at the Nevis Disaster Management Department Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to review preparedness arrangements and coordinate response measures.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant, review their family emergency plans, and continue to monitor official updates from NEMA, NDMD, and the St. Kitts and Nevis Meteorological Services.
