ATLANTA, GA (June 23, 2026) — Rum Island Festival, Atlanta's newest Caribbean cultural experience, officially made its television debut this week on ATL Live, Atlanta News First's popular lifestyle and entertainment program, offering viewers a vibrant preview of the highly anticipated inaugural festival taking place Saturday, July 11 at Piedmont Park Promenade.

Festival founder Marc Walcott joined the program to discuss the vision behind Rum Island Festival and its mission to create an immersive celebration rooted in the pillars of culture, community, and rum.

During the segment, Walcott shared how the festival was created to celebrate Atlanta's growing Caribbean population while welcoming attendees from all backgrounds through music, food, cultural experiences, and community engagement.

"Atlanta has a huge and growing Caribbean population, and we wanted to bring something new and exciting to the city," said Walcott during the broadcast. "We wanted to create an experience where people can connect with Caribbean culture through food, music, community, and celebration."

Viewers were treated to a taste of the festival experience through a live culinary showcase featuring Caribbean favorites from festival partner Tropics Jerk Center, including jerk chicken, rice and peas, chow mein, and fried plantains. Walcott also demonstrated the festival's signature rum punch, giving audiences a preview of the premium food and beverage offerings that will be available onsite.

The appearance further highlighted Rum Island Festival's commitment to cultural representation and community impact. Walcott discussed the festival's diverse entertainment lineup, blending Dancehall, Soca, Afrobeats, Reggaeton, and Amapiano, while also spotlighting the organization's partnership with Her Village Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to supporting families experiencing financial hardship.

Adding to the vibrant showcase, carnival performers from Musas Do Sol brought the spirit of Caribbean Carnival to the studio with a colorful dance presentation, offering viewers a glimpse of the energy and pageantry attendees can expect on festival day.

Hosted by media personality, comedian, and entrepreneur Pretty Vee, Rum Island Festival will feature performances from Dancehall heavyweight Aidonia, rising Caribbean star Ayetian, and an all-star DJ lineup including Ricky Platinum, Yung Rage, Unique Soundz, Propa English, Boogy Ranks, DJ Fabb, and more.

Built on the ethos "Culture. Community. Rum.," the festival will deliver eight hours of live entertainment, premium rum tastings, curated cocktail activations, immersive cultural experiences, and a Caribbean food village celebrating flavors from across the diaspora.

With growing support from Atlanta's Caribbean community and increasing visibility across regional media, Rum Island Festival continues to establish itself as one of the city's most anticipated new cultural events and a future destination experience designed to expand into major U.S. markets and Caribbean destinations.
