Road Town, Tortola VI January 2010: Now that Virgin Islands residents have completed their Christmas and New Year celebrations, all eyes are now anticipating the return of the most popular event for August, the Capital Productions Car Show and Exhibition.

The VI Official Car Show and Exhibition is scheduled for Saturday July 31, 2010 at the Road Town Soft Ball Field in Long Bush and promises to be truly the ‘King of All Car Shows’.

Capital Productions members have been working zealously on plans for this event, and cars are expected this year from St Croix, St John, St Thomas, Virgin Gorda and for the first time Jost Van Dyke.

Although some five months away, the excitement is already in the air as the competitive spirit between car owners of the USVI and BVI is much a part of the celebration.

This year Capital Productions has already secured MECA, the internationally recognized sound system judges from the USA.

Another big highlight this year will be for the first time some ten of the Virgin Islands finest and most high end power boats will be on exhibition on the Soft Ball Field.

Chairman of Capital Productions David A. Abednego has said that “the group continues to find creative and innovative ways to bring wholesome family events during the emancipation celebrations”.

Last year the car show was replaced by a Love Peace and Unity Concert, however by popular demand the car show is back.

Already Capital Productions is raffling a brand new SUV, the much sort after Mitsubishi-Zinger. The drawing will take place on July 31, 2010 at the car show and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to local charities. The raffle is sponsored by Scotia Bank (BVI) Ltd., and Tola-Mitsubishi Motors. Tickets are a mere $5.00 each, and the car is currently on display at the Wickhams Cay Service Station, by the roundabout.

This year will be the 11th year of the Official August Festival Car Show & Exhibition and the anticipation is very high.

Over the past ten years Capital Productions has donated some eighty thousand dollars ($80,000) to local charities including donations to the Rainbow Children’s Home, the BVI Red Cross, the Adina Donovan Home for the Elderly, the Althea Scatliffe and Enid Scatliffe Schools, the Virgin Gorda Elderly Home, along with countless others including individuals, families, sick and shut-ins and many other special causes.

Mr. Abednego believes that “giving back to the community brings the group its greatest joy and satisfaction.” He has also thanked all the car owners in advance for their continued support, hard work, sacrifices and most of all their creativity, skills and competitive spirit.

Capital Productions will make some big announcements in the coming months on other activities for the car show.
