New York, NY — The Sandy Point Benevolent Society (SPBS) is proud to announce that Ms. Avril Francis will be honored at the Dr. Stewart O. Williams 14th Annual Awards Gala on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Maestro's Catering Hall, 1703 Bronxdale Avenue, Bronx, New York.
Born in St. Kitts and later settling in New York City, Ms. Francis has devoted her life to serving others. After beginning her healthcare career as a Nursing Assistant, she became a Medical Technician with Montefiore Hospital's Care for the Homeless program, where she has helped restore hope and dignity to countless individuals in need.
A respected community leader, Ms. Francis serves as Chair of the Board at Montefiore Hospital Wakefield Campus, works closely with the 47th Police Precinct and the NYPD Explorers Program, and is the founder of The Avril Show Cancer Award Foundation, which supports cancer survivors, youth initiatives, summer camps, Back-to-School programs, and other charitable causes. Avril is a well-known and respected broadcast personality in the New York area.
