Bronx, NY - Mr. Fritzroy Wilkin began his professional journey in 1985 as a TVET teacher at Sandy Point High School, his alma mater, now known as the Charles E. Mills Secondary School. He taught Woodworking, Technical Drawing, Mathematics, and Agricultural Science, establishing a foundation of practical education and service that would shape his future contributions to national development.
Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Wilkin spearheaded several landmark TVET initiatives in St. Kitts and Nevis. His accomplishments include helping establish the Advanced Vocational Education Centre, the TVET Teacher Training Programme at Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College, the National Skills Training Programme, and the St. Kitts and Nevis TVET Secretariat. He also contributed to the development of the national TVET Road Map, National TVET Policy, National Qualifications Framework, and National Skills Registry.
Mr. Wilkin developed innovative training initiatives designed to expand opportunity and strengthen workforce development. These included the UNESCO-funded Youth in Business Project, which launched small businesses in hairdressing, landscaping, and barbering; the OAS-funded ITrepreneurship Project, which encouraged entrepreneurship; and the National Skills Training Programme Secondary School Work-Based Project, which helped reintegrate marginalized students into mainstream education.
As Chair of the CARICOM Regional Occupational Standards Committee, Mr. Wilkin led efforts to standardize occupational standards across the region, helping facilitate the movement of skilled artisans throughout the Caribbean Community. He also contributed to the Caribbean Education for Employment Programme, supporting efforts to align education and training with regional labour-market needs.
Mr. Wilkin retired from government service on December 31, 2014, as Principal TVET Officer in the Ministry of Education. He currently serves as Curriculum Development Officer at Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College, a position he has held since 2020, where he leads the institution’s renewable-energy development agenda.
Since 2023, Mr. Wilkin has also served as Chair of the St. Kitts and Nevis TVET Council, providing leadership in the continued development of a high-quality national TVET system. He remains actively involved with the University of the West Indies Joint Board of Teacher Education in developing artificial-intelligence policies, curricula, and codes of conduct for teacher education across the region.
Mr. Wilkin’s distinguished career encompasses classroom teaching, educational policy, national programme development, regional leadership, curriculum design, and the transformation of education and training systems. His work is defined by purpose, resilience, innovation, and measurable impact.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, the Christopher-Wilkin Institute of Technology is named in his honour, reflecting the lasting influence of his service and his commitment to developing skilled, capable, and empowered citizens.
Mr. Fritzroy Wilkin is being honoured by the Sandy Point Benevolent Society as a Distinguished Alumnus and Educator, on September 5, 2026, at the SPBS Dr Stewart O. Williams Annual Awards Gala, to be held at Maestro’s Catering Hall, 1703 Bronxdale Ave, Bronx, NY at 8 PM.
