BASSETERRE, St Kitts – THE Ministry of Education has expressed condolences to the family of one of the Federation’s top young academic scholars, who died while pursuing studies in Taiwan.
Details surrounding the death of Zidane Soleil Knight remain undisclosed, but news of her passing has prompted an outpouring of support from teachers, family members, friends and supporters across St Kitts and Nevis.
In a media statement issued this afternoon (Sept. 5), the Ministry extended its condolences to Knight’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Knight. “The news of her passing has been received with profound sadness.”
Knight was a recipient of a Taiwanese Scholarship and had been pursuing her educational goals in Taiwan. The Ministry described her as a young woman who demonstrated “great promise, dedication, and commitment” to her education and future.
“The Ministry of Education shares in your grief and recognizes that no words can adequately ease the pain of losing a child,” the statement added.
“We pray that the memories of Zidane, the impact she made, and the promise she carried will provide you, your family and close friends with strength and comfort in the days ahead.”
Knight was also a former 25 Most Remarkable Teens honouree and was recognized for her strong academic performance.
She achieved passes in 15 subjects in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations, further establishing herself as one of the Federation’s outstanding young scholars.
Her academic achievements earned her a Taiwanese Scholarship, allowing her to continue her studies overseas.
