BRIDGETOWN, Barbados — CHEDEAN Nation produced a remarkable late-innings comeback to propel the Guyana Amazon Warriors Women to their maiden WCPL title with a thrilling two-wicket victory over the Trinbago Knight Riders Women at Kensington Oval.
Chasing 146 for victory, the Warriors appeared to be in trouble at 71 for 6 in the 13th over, still needing 74 runs from 46 balls.
But Nation, coming to the crease at number eight, turned the match on its head with a sensational unbeaten 39 from just 21 balls, including four sixes.
Captain Chloe Tryon joined Nation with the Warriors in deep trouble, and the pair launched a counterattack that swung the momentum back in their favour.
They added 40 from 23 balls before Tryon was bowled by Laura Harris for 32 in the 17th over.
When Sheneta Grimmond fell for 10 in the 19th over, the Knight Riders were back in the contest, with the Warriors needing 16 from the final nine balls.
Nation took on Shikha Pandey and off-spinner Karishma Ramharack to score the remaining runs, bringing the Warriors home with three balls to spare at 149 for 8 and sparking celebrations.
The performance was particularly significant for Nation, who was batting for only the second time this season.
The Warriors' chase had earlier looked to be slipping away after their top order struggled. Tazmin Brits made 22 and Shemaine Campbelle 9, with both among the first five wickets to fall before the 10-over mark.
The Knight Riders' bowling attack was led by captain Deandra Dottin, Ramharack and Pandey, who took two wickets each.
Earlier, Dottin won the toss and elected to bat under sunny conditions.
Debutant Sushma Verma top-scored with 39 to anchor the Knight Riders' innings, while Marizanne Kapp and Pandey provided a late surge to lift TKR to 145 for 6.
Warriors seamer Shabnim Ismail claimed two wickets, while Shamilia Connell delivered an economical four-over spell, finishing with 1 for 18.
The victory was the Warriors' first WCPL title after reaching the final in 2023 and 2025.
