BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force (SKNDF) has confirmed that one of its band members was injured while attempting to break up a fight in the Newtown area.
According to a statement issued by the SKNDF on Monday, the officer, who was off duty at the time, sustained injuries after he was stabbed while intervening in a brawl.
The SKNDF said the soldier was socialising with members of the Nu Vybes Band, as he regularly does, when he observed a scuffle involving several young people.
He attempted to intervene and separate those involved, but was stabbed during the intervention.
The SKNDF said it is aware of the circumstances surrounding the incident and has provided the relevant information to the authorities.
As investigations continue, the Defence Force said it is providing the necessary support to the injured officer and wished him a speedy recovery.
