CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – AT a simple but very significant ceremony held at the Ingle Blackett Conference Room yesterday (Jan. 14), the Nevis Cooperative Credit Union Limited introduced its Quick Books Accounting training for Schools Co-operatives and Department of Co-operatives.
General Manager of the Nevis Cooperative Credit Union Sydney Newton warmly welcomed the attendees and reiterated that the entity’s interest lies in the upward mobility of the island’s youth.
Those in attendance included teachers from public and private schools and members of the Department of Cooperatives.
He commended the teachers on the excellent job they have been doing and urged them to continue, noting that the Cooperative would always be in support of them.
Newton also briefly made reference to the disaster in Haiti and declared that they have opened an account to assist the Haitians. The Credit Union started the account with EC$1 000 and is calling on the general public to make any contribution necessary to help the people of the earthquake-ravished country.
A member of the Business Enhancement Services, Alexa Pemberton, briefly gave an overview of the aim of the Quick Books and what it is all about. She stated that it would help to make work easier in any eventuality and declared that more information would be provided later in the day during the training process.
The training team was led by Pemberton and Oral Brandy, who is also a member of Business Enhancement Services.
