Caribbean Export to partner with ProDominicana for the sixth edition, building on more than 500 business and investment connections reported at CIF 2026
Bridgetown, Barbados – October 27, 2026. The Dominican Republic will host the Caribbean Investment Forum (CIF) 2027, with the Caribbean Export Development Agency partnering with the Dominican Republic Export and Investment Center (ProDominicana), the country’s export and investment promotion agency, to deliver the sixth edition of the regional investment event.
The partnership aims to strengthen connections between CARIFORUM businesses (CARICOM along with the Dominican Republic), regional ecosystem players and international investors, while advancing CIF’s central objective: helping Caribbean investment opportunities progress from preparation and promotion to unlocking financing and scaling.
Commenting on the next edition, Dr. Damie Sinanan, Executive Director of Caribbean Export, highlighted the importance of regional collaboration and sustained investor engagement.
“Hosting CIF 2027 in the Dominican Republic presents an important opportunity to deepen regional investment partnerships and bring more Caribbean opportunities to the attention of global capital. We look forward to working with ProDominicana and the rest of the Government of the Dominican Republic to build on the connections made in Barbados and strengthen the pathway from promising projects to financed businesses. Our ambition is not simply to convene another successful forum, but to ensure that the work between editions delivers stronger projects, sustained investor engagement and meaningful progress towards investment.”
The collaboration builds on the Dominican Republic’s participation in CIF 2026, where Vladimir Pimentel, Executive Director of ProDominicana, shared lessons from the country’s experience in attracting foreign direct investment. His contribution reinforced the forum’s emphasis on the policies, institutions and business conditions needed to attract capital and support growth.
Welcoming the partnership, Mr. Pimentel highlighted the opportunity to connect the Dominican Republic’s investment promotion efforts with the wider Caribbean agenda.
“We look forward to welcoming the Caribbean Investment Forum to the Dominican Republic and working with Caribbean Export to connect investors with opportunities across our region. CIF 2027 will provide an important platform to showcase Dominican enterprise, exchange experience and strengthen partnerships between our business communities. Through this collaboration, we want to encourage investment that expands productive capacity, creates employment and strengthens the Caribbean’s participation in regional and global markets.”
Building on the results of CIF 2026
The announcement follows the fifth edition of CIF in Barbados, delivered by Caribbean Export in partnership with the Government of Barbados and the European Union. Figures reported in the closing remarks indicate more than 550 registrations from approximately 29 countries, with a further 3,900 people joining the opening online.
The forum reported more than 300 business-to-business meetings registered through Capital Connections, alongside approximately 200 additional meetings between project owners and investors. Together, these represented more than 500 business and investment connections, creating opportunities for further engagement, due diligence and potential partnerships.
CIF 2026 also showcased US$39 million in bankable projects. Caribbean Export and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) worked together to prepare and present eight investment-ready opportunities, supported by dedicated Deal Room engagements with investors.
These practical engagements complemented discussions on the investment climate, global capital flows, investor decision-making, women-led businesses and the requirements for scaling Caribbean enterprises. Across the programme, the emphasis was on strengthening the conditions that allow viable businesses and projects to attract investment.
A growing regional investment platform
Since its launch in Trinidad and Tobago in 2022, CIF has been hosted in The Bahamas, Guyana, Jamaica and Barbados. The 2025 edition in Jamaica recorded 455 participants, reflecting the forum’s continued ability to convene businesses, investors and partners across different host markets.
Beyond participation, CIF has helped develop a regional pipeline of approximately 30 projects from 11 CARIFORUM countries, representing more than US$170 million in investment opportunities, as highlighted by the Caribbean Development Bank at the 2026 forum. This represents a pipeline of opportunities seeking investment, rather than financing already secured.
The priority now is to strengthen the conversion of these opportunities into financing and strategic partnerships. Through its partnership with the Caribbean Development Bank, Caribbean Export is advancing a year-round approach to investor outreach, investment readiness, matchmaking, structured follow-up and project pipeline management. This work is intended to sustain engagement beyond the annual event and help project proponents address the requirements of prospective investors.
In the lead-up to CIF 2027, Caribbean Export will continue tracking the partnerships, formal commitments and investment deals emerging from the Barbados forum, recognising that project evaluation, due diligence and financing decisions extend beyond the conference timetable.
The partnership with ProDominicana will support the next stage of this regional effort, bringing the investment community together in the Dominican Republic while maintaining the focus on practical progress between editions.
Dates, venue, programme and participation details for CIF 2027 will be announced in due course.
