National Capacity in Grenada Strengthened to Promote PRAIS 4 Reporting.

By: Press Release, PRAIS

ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, OCTOBER 27, 2026-The Ministry of Agriculture, Lands and Forestry, with support from the Partnership Initiative for Sustainable Land Management and APACHETA, hosted a one-day workshop on Tuesday 20th October 2026, at the National Stadium Conference Room, to launch a new chapter in the Performance Review and Assessment of Implementation System (PRAIS) reporting process.

The workshop, held under the theme “2026 UNCCD PRAIS Reporting in the CSIDS: Pioneering SIDS-Driven Vision and Data for PRAIS 4 Reporting,” focused on strengthening national reporting capacity and advancing the use of regional, high-resolution data.

The stakeholders participating in the workshop came from Ministries and agencies involved in land management across the state of Grenada and will support its ability to report to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, using high-resolution datasets produced by a regional institution for the 2026 PRAIS reporting cycle. This is the first time this type of dataset is being used, which will help produce more accurate reports on the status of land degradation and help make more accurate management recommendations to stakeholders.

These datasets were developed through collaboration between PISLM and Apacheta, and enable Caribbean SIDS, like Grenada, to move beyond reliance on global default datasets that may not fully reflect the realities of small island states.
The data is not only essential for reporting but also supports other activities such as planning and monitoring, encouraging sustainable land management, as it contributes to global commitments to reverse land degradation, in pursuit of  Land Degradation Neutrality by 2030.

The workshop highlighted that the use of CSIDS-specific data and tools for the 2026 PRAIS reporting cycle introduced PRAIS 4 under the 2026 UNCCD reporting cycle and strengthened the technical capacity of reporting officers.
