FCO Overseas Territories Director to visit Britich Virgin Islands

    Tuesday, January 26 – The Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s Director for Overseas Territories, Mr. Colin Roberts, will be making his first official visit to the Territory from January 27-30.
     
    While in the Territory, Mr Roberts will be paying courtesy calls on His Excellency the Governor, David Pearey and the Premier, Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE as well as other senior officials to discuss United Kingdom/British Virgin Islands relations, the global economic situation, good governance, the environment, law and order and the Territory’s financial services industry. The Director will also have the opportunity to meet with representatives from both the Government and private sector. To mark the occasion, the Governor will be hosting a reception in Mr Roberts’s honour.
     
    According to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, “The Director is delighted to have been invited by the Honourable Premier to join him on a visit to Virgin Gorda. The Director and Honourable Premier will have the opportunity to visit several areas of interest including the Oil Nut Bay development and will be holding a joint press conference.”
     
    As Director of the Overseas Territories, Mr. Roberts is responsible for the Southern Oceans Team comprising of the South Atlantic Section, British Indian Ocean Territory, Pitcairn Section and the Caribbean as well as the Bermuda and Policy Team comprising of the Caribbean and Bermuda Section, Turks and Caicos Island Unit and Policy the Co-ordination Section.
