BASSETERRE, St. Kitts- LEADER of the Portmore Empire, Vybz Kartel, who recently performed in St. Kitts, is currently under heavy public scrutiny as one of his female members, Gaza Kim, claimed that she and her brother were beaten by members of the Empire camp.
According to Tuesday’s STAR, a source told them that the beating was ordered by Kartel. The media house further stated that Gaza Kim was at Big Yard Studio when she and a group of men got into a verbal altercation.
The source claimed that Vybz Kartel arrived on the scene and the men were instructed to beat her. The singer, who is also referred to as ‘De Teacha’, later issued a statement denying his involvement in the incident and condemned violence against females and children.
A statement from Gaza Kim also confirmed that she had been assaulted over the weekend and sought medical attention. Details as to what happened, however, were omitted. According to the release, Gaza Kim said she would be taking legal action against her attackers.
Gaza Kim, whose real name is Kim Hamilton, further stated in a release on Wednesday, January 27 that she has left the Portmore Empire and would be moving on with her music career as Kym.
She is known for her latest hit single ‘Amen’ and ‘Bills’ which features Lisa Hype.
Meanwhile, another source close to the Empire camp told another media house that members of the camp are often beaten for various reasons. However, a number of them came forward to clear the air on that and said the allegation is false.
