BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – MARK BRANTLEY, winner of the Nevis Number Nine seat in the Federal Elections has promised to continue championing the cause of not only his constituents but the entire nation in the House of Parliament.
Concerned Citizens Movement’s (CCM) Brantley edged out his opponent Hensley Daniel of the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) by some 149 votes, snagging the Seat for the second consecutive time.
Speaking exclusively with SKNVibes, Brantley expressed that he is grateful to have won the Seat and vowed to “work tirelessly” in representing the nation.
“I am very grateful to have done so (win the Seat). I am very grateful to the people of St. John’s and St. Paul’s who comprise District Nine. I had by far the largest district in Nevis and I am very pleased that in all the key areas and in all the key boxes, I did better in my first outing in 2007.
“That means that a message has been resonating and I want to promise the people of St. John’s and St. Paul’s and the people of Nevis, generally, that I will continue to work tirelessly for them and that in me they have an advocate that they can be proud of and that they can trust in, and that in the CCM team they have leadership that they can trust. That’s our motto, that’s our mantra and that’s what we intend to do.”
Brantley suggested that his work in the Federal Parliament would not be limited to tabling issues affecting his constituents but would seek to continue addressing issues of national concern.
“I think the people of our country need to address the issue of crime and security. I think that, for me, it is the number one, number two, number three, number four, number five issues. I think it is absolutely the most critical national policy issue to be addressed. All the other gains we have made, I think, stand to be eroded unless we get a handle on crime.
“In that regard, I hope the new administration will focus its energies, partnering with all of us…to fashion sensible solutions to this cancer that tends to destroy us.”
