Ministry of Education and Culture to host youth rally

    Roadtown,Tortola -The rally is scheduled for Sunday, February 7 at the Multipurpose Sports Complex beginning at 2 p.m.
    Minister of Education and Culture with responsibility for Youth Affairs and Sports the Honourable Andrew Fahie said in a January 19 statement that the rally will focus on how to build community support around education and a pool of volunteers in every community to help the youths fulfil their God-given purpose for existing on this earth. 

     

    “To make this event successful we require participation of the youth of this Territory,” he said, adding, “As the youths of this Territory, you occupy a strategic position in our society and undoubtedly possess the potential to impact societal well-being.”
     
    “To the schools, churches, service and youth organisations, this is your opportunity to engage, unify and serve as catalysts for positive social change,” he added.

     

    Approximately 20 different youth, sports and service organisations have registered to be part of this event and will have information booths where persons can obtain more information about the services they offer.  To date, 1,200 persons from these Territory-wide organisations have registered to participate.

     

    The event will be full of surprises with a mix of local motivational speeches and entertainment.  Premier Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE and Honourable Fahie will deliver remarks.  The highlight of the day will be remarks from motivational speaker and author from the award-winning television court show, Judge Greg Mathis. The event will be broadcast live on Radio stations ZBVI 780 AM and ZROD 103.7 FM.

     

    The public is invited to attend this mega event. No registration for the public is required.

     

    The Ministry of Education and Culture’s mission is to provide high quality education and rehabilitative services, as well as, to facilitate access to and participation in sports, recreation and culture, in order to enrich the lives of all residents of the Virgin Islands.
