KINGSTON, Jamaica – STEPHEN MARLEY, son of one of Jamaica’s most celebrated artiste Robert Nesta Marley, continues to follow in his father’s footsteps in the music industry.
On Sunday night (Jan. 31), the singer/producer walked away with the award for Best Reggae Album with the acoustic version of ‘Mind Control’ at the 52nd Grammy Awards held at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.
Marley also won this award in 2008 with the original version of the same album. According to Yardflex.com, Marley edged out Buju Banton with ‘Rasta Got Soul’, Gregory Isaacs’ ‘Brand New Me’, his brother Julian Marley with ‘Awake’ and Sean Paul’s ‘Imperial Blaze’.
This has been Stephen Marley’s seventh award in his musical career. He is said to be the reggae artiste with the most Grammies.
