Kittitian makes history at UWI

KITTITIAN SCHOLAR: Kennedy Pemberton
By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ANOTHER Kittitian scholar has made himself, family and the Federation proud, by having his name indelibly written in the history books of the University of the West Indies (UWI) for topping his graduation class in the first ever International Management Programme ran by that institution.

Information reaching SKNVibes states that “amidst thunderous applause and standing ovation from his family and friends, Kennedy Pemberton of Greenlands, Basseterre, St. Kitts walked away with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree with First Class Honours in International Tourism Management with a Minor in Marketing Tourism”.

The historic event occurred at a recent impressive graduation ceremony held at the St. Augustine Campus of the UWI in Trinidad.

Pemberton, who was affectionately dubbed by his Professor as “the Pride of St. Kitts and Nevis”, entered the UWI in August 2006 after graduating from the Arts, Science and General Studies Programme at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC).

According to Desiree McCoy, Purchasing and Inventory Manager at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, who provided the information on the Kittitian scholar, Pemberton would like to thank God for bringing him this far, his family as a whole, but particularly his mother Sylvia Pemberton-Richards, and his friends for their love, encouragement and support. He would also like to express his gratitude to his past lecturers at the CFBC for their time and effort.

He further wishes to express profound thanks to the government of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Organisation of American States (O.A.S) and to the Caribbean Tourism Organisation for their financial support while pursuing his B.Sc.

Pemberton is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Tourism Development at the University of Surrey, London England and would like to say a profound “Thank you” to the British Council through the Commonwealth Scholarship Fund for funding his studies at this time.
