The ICT Roadshow is a series of country visits across the region, designed to foster a spirit of innovation in the development of Information and Communication Technology-based (ICT) practical solutions, raise awareness and encourage harmonization of efforts in the adoption of ICT solutions for inclusive economic and social development.

Addressing the committee that will be responsible for the events in the BVI, Ms. Lewis spoke of the essence of the road show. “The road show is not an event, it is an initiative that starts with the road show coming to the BVI from May 16-18. The road show seeks to build initiatives on the ground that will continue even after the road show is finished,” she said. The Secretary General further stated that the road show is not just a series of lectures, but that it seeks to link the educative component of information and communication technology with things that will happen on the ground, initiatives and programmes that will start and you will see down the road.

The theme of the road show is harnessing the power of innovation, the engine for ICT development. As part of the Secretary General’s visit she will meet with the Governor, Premier, Minister of Communications and Works, Minister for Education and Culture and telecommunications stakeholders.  In addition, there will also be a press briefing as part of educational efforts to ensure that the public is aware of the road show and what they can expect.

Director of Human Resources and Administration at the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission and coordinator for the BVI Road Show Mrs. Karia Christopher told the Department of Information and Public Relations, “The purpose of this visit by the Secretary General is to create a buzz about the road show and to have her meet with the dignitaries and stakeholders.  She is expected to discuss the planning and implementation process with the coordinator in reference to the final product and what is expected of the BVI road show beginning May 16.”

The road show is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Communications and Works, Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, and telecommunications stakeholders.
